Minecraft has been updated to pay tribute to the streamer Technoblade who passed away from cancer was announced by his family this week. The splash image for Minecraft in the game's launcher now has an ox sporting a golden crown - a reference to Technoblade's Minecraft character and a royal pig-man sporting a bejeweled crown.

The tweet on Friday from the Minecraft team stated that they were "heartbroken" by the passing of Technoblade and that Technoblade "brought so much joy to the gaming community."

We've been trying to find the words but we are all heartbroken by the loss Technoblade. Technoblade was a wonderful friend and brought joy to our community. He will be missed greatly.

Technoblade was an extremely popular Minecraft streamer, with more than 13 million subscribers on YouTube and was a part of the hit server Dream SMP. Technoblade's father posted a message from Technoblade and discussed the process of making the final video, because Technoblade was fighting cancer. At the time of writing it has more than 54 million views.

Technoblade has been the subject of many tributes from streamers and other members of the Minecraft creator community. In the days since, countless pieces of fanart have been posted to Twitter in commemoration, too.

Although the Minecraft team hasn't yet acknowledged the splash screen update, it evidently made this minor change to pay tribute to. Although the original launcher image still has the same pig in the same spot but it does not feature Technoblade's trademark crown.
